UC Does Away With Testing

The University of California system will remain test-free after three years of exploring whether or not the tests are helpful for students, the LA Times stated in an article today. The debate has centered around the claim that the tests favor those who can afford to pay for tutors and have the resources to perform well. Many feel these tests are not fair for the underserved and minority. The UC stopped using tests for admission purposes two years ago and feels GPA is a better predictor of student success in college. Many schools have followed their lead and remain test-optional. For a complete list of test-optional schools, see FairTest.org. Not enough data for insights yet  Share post 
