SAT/ACT Test Prep
I am often asked when a student should begin studying for the standardized tests. I recommend students start studying for the SAT or ACT in the summer before their junior year and take the test for the first time in December of their junior year. Taking a practice test for each one to see which one they score better on or which test they feel more comfortable with is advised. Some students wait until the spring of their junior year to take it for the first time then take it a second time in May or June. If they are happy with their score, they don't have to take it again. If they would like to improve upon it, they can it in late summer or early fall of their senior year. Of course with many colleges remaining test-optional for the 2021-22 academic year, if their score is not what they hoped, they can choose not to submit any scores at colleges that have this policy.
