The University of California offered 137,000 students admission to one of the UC's for fall 2018. This includes 28,750 transfer students, most from community colleges. Students that live in California are the majority of admitted at 71,000. The number is larger than last year by 1,114 freshmen and 1,851 transfers. The largest ethnic group represented is still Asian Americans (36%), then Latinos (33%), whites (22%) and African Americans (5%). The university anticipates it will have far surpassed its goal of adding an additional 10,000 Californians by the 2018-19 academic year. Total three-year growth is estimated to be an additional 15,000 California resident undergraduates.
